Most common problems we fix
If your refrigerator is showing any of the following signs it is probably time to get your refrigerator looked at. Here are some tell-tale signs that something is wrong and some tips that may help you get started in troubleshooting them.
Fridge is not cooling properly - Your refrigerator should be running at between 36 and 40 degrees F and your freezer around 0 degrees F. If your fridge / freezer is not cooling to the right temperature range, then your food is not being stored properly and it will spoil quicker. The first thing you want to check is whether your fridge is plugged in and if there is any visible damage to the plug. Next check the breaker box to make sure it isn’t tripped up. If there are no electric issues, it may be dirty condenser coils, faulty evaporator coil or control, thermo-sensor, or something else. Try cleaning the condenser coils first, which is underneath or in the back of the fridge. If not, it may be time to call out the experts to diagnose the issue. You may need some basic refrigerator repair.
Puddle of water under the fridge – First check to see if you have melted ice that is pooling under your fridge. If not, check the water line to check that there are no breaks or faults. Next you may have a clogged defrost drain that my need to be cleaned. If not you may have an issue with your condensation system.
Not making ice / Ice Maker not working – the water supply line may be blocked up. You will need refrigerator water line repair or ice maker repair. It may be that your ice maker line frozen or simply the ice maker needs to be replaced. Certain brands are notorious for having faulty ice makers such as Samsung.
Fridge is making loud sounds – Check to see where the sounds are coming from. If it’s a vibrating noise, first check to make sure that your refrigerator is level and that the feet are adjusted properly. If that’s not the issue, you may have loose compressor tubes, wiring, or condenser coils. If the noise is coming from under your fridge, the issue may be the condenser fan motor, the evaporator fan motor in the freezer or the compressor.
Freezer cold, but fridge warm - This might signal that the evaporator fan failed or you have a blocked air vent. You'll want to listen for the evaporator fan in the freezer to see if you can here. Next make sure that food is not blocked airways or air vents. See if moving around the food and clearing some of it fixes the issue.
