Most common issues we fix

Dryer not Heating

One of the most frustrating things can be running a full cycle and your clothes still coming out wet. You can troubleshoot some of the basics that may get you back up and running.

The heat element may be suffocated by the lint trapped inside the machine. Check your lint screen first and clean it out. Next look at the lint trap  and use a vacuum to clean it out. Then detach the vent hose from the back of your dryer and shake it out, blow out debris, and make sure its free of lint. Also clean out the vent outlet in the wall and unclog any visible debris. This should help resolve your issue. The lint and debris stuck in your dryer causes the heating element to overheat and shuts off the thermostat.

If this doesn't fix the issue, your dryer's fuse may have blown. If you take the back panel off of your dryer you can locate the fuse and test to see if its working. If not order a part and replace it and your dryer should begin heating up again. If not, it may be time to call a professional to come out and take a look.

Dryer won't run or start

You're dryer isn't running, so you can't go catch it. The obvious thing is to first check to make sure it's plugged in and the circuit breaker isn't tripped up. You'd be surprised how many times its the breaker box. It got shorted or switched off somehow and just needs to be flipped back on. Sometimes its more serious and you may have a broken terminal block, a damaged start switch, or bad thermostat.

Dryer gets too hot or overheats

Check to make sure that the dryer vent is not clogged. You may have faulty heating coils or a bad thermostat. In either case, this may be a fire hazard that you should get resolved immediately.

Drum doesn't spin

A broken belt may cause the drum not to spin, but you'll still be able to hear the motor running. A faulty roller, idler pully or motor may also be the problem.

Dryer Squeaks

Listening to a squeaky dryer while doing your laundry can give you a headache. If your dryer is squeaking, this is usually caused by a bearing or roller wheel that is not lubricated properly, there is a problem with the motor, or a drive belt is on its way out. Depending on where the noise is coming from when your dryer squeaks you can pin point what the issue is. If the noise is coming from the:
  • back of the unit - lubricate rear drum bearings and roller wheel axles inside the drum housing with 30-weight oil
  • top of the unit - replace the drive belt over the drum and around the idler and motor pulleys
  • bottom of the unit - this may be a sign that the motor is failing, which can be an expensive repair. Depending on the severity of the damage, our techs can advise you whether its cheaper to go ahead do the repair or replace your dryer

If you'd rather outsource the headache to a professional; rest assured we're here to help and you're best interest is priority numero uno.
